It was fascinating to watch the performance of India at Tokyo Olympics 2020. India is at its best in the last four decades. However, we were in 48th place on the medal tally with one gold, one silver and four bronze medals. The performance of the Women’s hockey team in their last match for the bronze medal was breathtaking. The girls’ performance has given us hope of a medal in the next Olympics. Same in the case of the golf game where Aditi Ashok finished at 4th pace. The 23 years old player looks promising for the next Olympic Games. Neeraj Chopra, a 23 years old boy from Harayan’s Panipat, has become a sensation overnight because of his gold bringing performance in Olympics. On the highest position on the podium, Neeraj’s eyes reflected all the emotions he witnessed when India’s Anthem was playing. Neeraj won gold in the javelin throw. His golden throw of 87.5 m clinched the first individual gold in Tokyo 2020 Olympic games and athletics.

With his gold-winning performance in Tokyo, the athlete jumped from fourteen to the second position in the world ranking. Neeraj started to participate in sports for weight loss, but he began to perform better later on. Silver Medal to India at Olympics 2020

SAIKHOM MIRABAI CHANU |Weightlifter

India had great expectations from Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting, and she fulfilled them by bringing silver in the sport. The 26 years old Manipur girl with the prettiest smile could not perform well in Rio 2016. But her failure didn’t discourage her, and she brought silver in the 49 Kg category. Her coach Vijay Sharma trained her well to lift the weight without any injuries during the training. Mirabai Chanu comes from a small town approx 30 KM far from Imphal, Manipur. Her ability to lift heavy logs for fuel made her think about getting training for weight lifting.

Ravi Kuamar Dahiya | Wrestler 

Indian wrestlers are the best in the world and country expect them to bring Olympic medal to the country. In Tokyo Olympics 2020, Ravi Kumar got a silver medal home. He is the world number 4 player, and the country was looking hopefully at him for a medal. The Olympic runner-up’s stunning performance not only made him win a medal, but he won people’s hearts as well.

During the match, his opponent had bitten him deeper to get rid of his grip. Its shows how difficult it was to win against this Indian wrestling champion. Ravi gave a tough competition but could win a silver medal in wrestling. He has become the second Indian wrestler after Sushil Kumar to win silver. The 23 year old wrestler won in his debut Olympic games, and we are still hopeful for him to grab a gold Olympic medal in the next games.

Bronze Medal Winning Indian Olympics Champions 

PV Sindhu| Badminton 

Sindhu already has an Olympic medal in her kitty from previous games, but one is not sufficient, and she was looking at a medal in Olympic 2020 also. In her early matches, she wasn’t in her best performance, but we have seen some stunning moves from the lady in the court in a later stage. Pusarla Venkata Sindhu was at her best in her bronze playoff, where she defeated Chinese player He Bing Jiao. PV Sindhu is the best example of dreaming high and achieving them.

LOVINA BORGOHAIN | Boxing

Lovlina, a young Indian boxer, comes from Assam. She had a match with the world’s number one ranked player where she could not win. But she defeated her opponent Chen Nien-Chin from Taiwan and won bronze in Boxing. The five feet nine-inch tall girl’s boxing practice was affected due to Corona, but she managed to be active by lifting the LPG cylinders and working in the field. She started her career as a kickboxer and boxer later on. Her elder twin sisters have been the national-level boxer, and now she made her family and country proud.

BAJRANG PUNIA | wrestling

The 27 years old wrestler comes from the Jhajjar district of Haryana. His game and courage to go in the ring made all the sports lovers proud of him despite the injury. The fearless boxer had a knee injury, and his opponent knew about it. Olympics are the games where everyone wants to grab a medal, so do the other wrestlers. All his opponents attacked Punia’s injured knee. The wrestler defeated Kazakhstan’s wrestler with 8-0 and won a bronze. If courage has a face, then it must be like Bajrang Punia.

Indian Men’s Olympics Hockey Team

Indian men’s hockey team’s performance was excellent in Tokyo Olympics. The team had the potential to bring gold home, but it somehow grabs a bronze. Every player was at their best and worked to get the team on the podium. Seeing the hockey team with an Olympic medal is like a dream which this team made true.
