Answer 1: India celebrated Muslim Women’s Rights Day on the first anniversary of Triple Talaq law making as a criminal offence.
Triple Talaq called as “talaq-e-biddat” was a special provision given to Muslim man under the Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Application Act of
1937. Triple Talaq Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on July 25, 2019 with 79% of MP votes in favour and 21% against. It was then passed in
Rajya Sabha on July 30, 2019 with 54% votes in favour and 46% against it. After the Presidential nod it became a law on August 1, 2019.

Answer 2: Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, has extended the One Nation One Card Scheme to four more states and UT’s in India that include Manipur, Jammu & Kashmir, Nagaland and Uttarakhand. The scheme is now in 24 states and UT’s across the country.

Answer 3: The two US astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley who were sent to the International Space Station two months ago have safely returned to the planet Earth following a 21-hour overnight journey. The NASA astronauts were sent in a Crew Dragon spacecraft designed and operated by Space-X which was launched from Launch Complex 39A at 3:22 PM on May 30, 2020.

Answer 4: Indira Rasoi Yojana has been launched by Rajasthan’s CM Ashok Gehlot, which commenced from 20th August 2020. The aim is to resolve Rajasthan Government’s “No Hunger No Sleep” campaign. Under this scheme poor and needy will get healthy and nutritious food at only 8 Rs per plate.

Answer 5: Andhra Pradesh CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy launched ‘E-Raksha Bandhan’, an online training programme on cybersecurity, on the eve of Rakshabandhan. The programme is to create awareness among the public on cybercrimes in the State.

Answer 6: Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K Palaniswami has shown disagreement with the Union government-proposed three-language policy proposed in the National Education Policy 2020. He said that he will not agree with three language policy and the state will continue with its dual language policy of English and Tamil.

Answer 7: US President Donald Trump has recently signed an executive order that bans hiring of foreign workers by federal agencies especially those on H-1B visa on subcontracting or contracting.

Answer 8: Britain’s current Finance Minister Rishi Sunak issued an order to the Royal Mint Advisory Committee (RMAC) for recognizing the contributions of people from the BAME community (Black, Asian and minority ethnic). Under this order RMAC will mint a coin to remember Mahatma Gandhi.
