Russia has recently announced an export ban on over 200 products after the imposition of sanctions on it over the invasion of Ukraine. Despite the sanctions, Russia still is a main energy supplier to European Union countries.

Question 5: Under the administrative jurisdiction of which Ministry is the National Land Monetization Corporation (NLMC)?

The National Land Monetization Corporation (NLMC) has been approved by the Union Cabinet with an aim to monetize surplus land and building assets of the Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) and other Government agencies. NLMC which has been approved to set up will be fully owned by the Centre, under Finance Ministry’s administrative jurisdiction. NLMC will have an initial paid-up share capital of Rs 150 crore and authorized share capital of Rs 5,000 crore.

India has finalized an enabling Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh and Nepal to implement the Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal (BBIN) Motor Vehicles Agreement (MVA).  The MoU was finalized “pending ratification of the MVA by Bhutan”. BBIN has an objective to boost the regional trade and connectivity.

Question 7: As of 2022, which country is the largest Crude-Oil producer in the world?

United States is the world’s largest crude-oil producer, followed by Russia in the second place. Russia produces approx. 11 million barrels crude oil per day. Out of the total produce almost half of it’s exported oil i.e. 2.5 mn barrels per day is shipped to European countries. Nearly one-third of the crude-oil produced by Russia is sent to Europe via the Druzhba Pipeline through Belarus.

Question 8: Who is the new Chairperson of Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT)?

Delhi High Court Chief Justice D N Patel has been appointed by the Government of India as the chairperson of the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT). The aim to set up TDSAT was to adjudicate disputes between telecom operators and consumers. The tribunal includes a Chairperson who has served as or is a Judge of the Supreme Court or the Chief Justice of a High Court.

The India Global Forum (IGF) event will be held at Bengaluru. It will be attended by the Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar and will interact with the founders and CEOs of 30 unicorns at the IGF event. The event will also see participation of Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi, Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, along with many CEOs and leaders from the industry.

India’s indigenously developed ‘Automatic Train Protection System’ has been renamed ‘Kavach’, which was recently tested on South Central Railway. It is country’s own automatic protection system, which is in development since the year 2012, under the name Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), which was later renamed to Kavach. As per the Indian Union Budget, Kavach is scheduled for complete rollout on 2,000 km in the year 2022-23.
