Answer 1: Madhuapp, a smart learning app, has been launched by Odisha Government to help school children study smart. The study material for this smart learning has been prepared by education experts of the state. The app offers video and tutorials.

Answer 2: Customers would be able to transfer funds through NEFT around the clock on all days of the week. The NEFT service will be available 24×7 for customers from Monday to Sunday from Dec 16, 2019.

Answer 3: The “Bharatiya Poshan Anthem” was launched by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu. The ‘Posthan Abhiyaan or National Nutrition Mission‘ was launched by PM Modi government in March 2019 with an aime to make India malnutrition-free by 2022 by ensuring holistic development and adequate nutrition for pregnant women, children and mothers. The Bharatiya Poshan Anthem was conceptualized by the Ministry of Women & Child Development, penned by lyricist Prasson Joshi and sung by singer Shankar Mahadevan.

Answer 4: December 7 is observed as Armed Forces flag day in India since 1949, to honor the martyrs and the men in uniform who fought to safeguard the honor of the country.

Answer 5: On 6th December 2019, MP Sarojni Hembram from Odisha for the first time spoke in a tribal language called “Santhali” in the Rajya Sabha. She raised the public importance matter during the zero hour. She also demanded Bharat Ratna for Pundit Raghunath Murmu, the Santhali scholar who introduced Ol Chiki script for the language in the year 1925.

Answer 6: India has won 214 medals, including 110 gold, 69 silver and 35 bronze medals at the South Asian Games, 2019, held in Nepal.

Answer 7: Artificial Intelligence has been introduced as a subject by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development in classes 8, 9 and 10 in CBSE schools. The study materials has also been provided to the schools through official website of CBSE.

Answer 8: December 5 is celebrated as world soil day every year. For the year 2019, the theme for World Soil Day was ‘Stop soil erosion, Save our future‘. The day is aimed at raising awareness on sustaining healthy ecosystems and well-being of human.

Answer 9: The International Day of Anti-Corruption is observed in December 9 since 2003, after it was marked by the United Nations as World Anti-Corruption Day. This years theme for the day was “United Against Corruption.” 

Answer 10: Global Climate Risk Index 2020, published by environmental think tank Germanwatch, has found Japan as the most vulnerable country to climate change, followed by Philippines, Germany, Madagascar, India, Sri Lanka and Kenya .

Answer 11:Climate Emergency’ has been named by Oxford Dictionaries as its Word of the Year 2019. The word has been chosen from all-environmental shortlist that included words ‘climate action’, ‘climate denial,’ ‘flight shame,’ ‘eco-anxiety,’ and ‘extinction.’ The word ‘Climate Emergency’ chosen as Oxford word of the year 2019 means that it used most by the English-speaking world in 2019. Also, the use of word ‘Emergency’ has been increased 100 times since 2018.

Answer 12: Ripu Daman Bevli has been appointed as the Plogging Ambassador of India. The announcement was made by Union Minister of State (I/C) for Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Kiren Rijiju during the Fit India Plogging Run. The nation-wide Plogging Ambassador Mission was also launched by the minister under which, Indians who have been running and cleaning their towns, cities, or districts, will be nominated as Plogging Ambassadors of their region.

Answer 13: Masatsugu Asakawa has been unanimously elected 10th President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) by its Board of Governors. Mr. Asakawa currently serving as the Special Advisor to Japan’s Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and will assume the office as President of ADB on 17th January 2020. He will succeed Takehiko Nakao, leaving office on Jan 16, 2020. Mr. Asakawa will also finish the unexpired term of President Nakao, which will end on 23rd November 2021.

Answer 14: Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, has been made CEO of its parent company Alphabet after its co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page announced that they are stepping down.

Answer 15: Germany’s Ursula von der Leyen has been elected as the first female President of the European Commission (EC). She will succeed
the outgoing European Commission president, Jean-Claude Juncker.

Answer 16: The National Assembly of Republic of Mauritius has unanimously elected Prithvirajsing Roopun, as new President of the country.

Answer 17: The 34-year-old Sanna Marin, has been elected by the Social Democratic party of Finland as country’s youngest prime minister ever, who will take over the office after the resignation of outgoing leader Antti Rinne. She who will be the youngest head of government in the history of Finland, has prior served as Finland’s transport minister.

Answer 18: Girish Chandra Chaturvedi has been appointed as the new chairman of the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The post of NSE chairman was vacant since January 2019, after the incumbent NSE chairman Ashok Chawla resigned from the post after the charges of corruption in Aircel-Maxis case.
