The National Institute of Design (Amendment) Bill, 2019 has been passed by Parliament, which was already approved by Rajya Sabha on August 6, 2019. The bill has been approved with the objective to establish the National Institute of Design (NID) in the States of Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Haryana as the institutions of national importance. The bill now awaits Presidential assent, and on approval it will become a law.

The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill 2019 has been passed by Parliament with the Rajya Sabha approving it by a voice vote on Nov 26, 2019. 17th Lok Sabha passed the bill on Aug 5, 2019. The bill now will be presented before president for approval, after which it will become a law. The bill is a proposed act of the Parliament of India with the objective to offer protection of rights of transgenders, their welfare, and other related matters.
