Answer 1: World Blood Donor Day is observed every year on June 14 to thank voluntary blood donors. The other reason to celebrate this day is to raise awareness among people about the need for regular blood donations. This year the day was celebrated under the theme “Safe Blood Saves Lives.”

Answer 2: The International Albinism Awareness Day is every year observed on June 13. This year the day was celebrated under the Theme: Made to Shine day. This day marks the human rights of the persons affected by Albinism globally. The day is celebrated globally to create knowledge and awareness about the different types of discrimination that are faced by people with albinism worldwide.

Answer 3: The report titled ” COVID-19 and Child Labour: A Time of Crisis, A Time to Act” has been released by the International Labour Organization and the UNICEF. The report says that due to COVID-19 crisis millions of children will be pushed to child labour. It also mentions that the children who are already in laborious activities will see longer work hours.

Answer 4: “Ghar Ghar Nigrani” mobile application was launched by Punjab Government on June 12, 2020 to undertake house-to-house surveillance for eliminating COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of application is to help early detection and testing of COVID-19 thereby preventing community spread.

Answer 5: GermiKlean sanitising chamber has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization, which will be used to sanitise uniforms of police and security personnel. The sanitising chamber was developed by DRDO after the sanitizing of uniforms, helmets etc. where raised by Delhi Police.

Answer 6: An internal working group was constituted by the Reserve Bank of India to review guidelines of ownership of private. This internal group of RBI will be headed by P K Mohanty, Executive Director of RBI .

Answer 7: The Veteran Urdu poet Anand Mohan Zutshi ‘Gulzar’ Dehlvi passed away at the age of 93 years after recently recovering from COVID-19. He was tested COVID-19 positive in early June. He recovered from COVID-19, but due to his age, the COVID-19 infection made him weak and he died due to cardiac arrest.

Answer 8: iFLOWS is a flood warning system that has been launched by Maharashtra CM, this system alerts on the flood prone areas. It provides the warning 6 to 72 hours in before the occurrence. The system provides information on the vulnerability, height the flood water could attain,
location-wise problematic areas and risk elements exposed to floods.

Answer 9: The Indian American soil scientist Dr Rattan Lal won the World Food Prize for mainstreaming and developing soil centric approach for increased food production. The United Nations Climate Change Conferences has also adopted his strategy of restoring soil health.

Answer 10: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has become the first construction sector to go completely digital. NHAI’s project management workflow has been move to online portal now. The platform has made use of cloud-based big data analytics and Artificial Intelligence to bring in the change.

Answer 11: FIFA released its ranking on June 12, 2020. FIFA has ranked India at 108th position. The international football has been suspended since March 2020 for the year 2020. Belgium topped the list, followed by France and Brazil on second and third position.

Answer 12: The E-Commerce giant Amazon on June 11, 2020 banned the use of “Rekognition” software by the police. The software was used by police to quickly compare a picture with police database that contains hundreds of 1000s of photos.
