Answers to Current Affairs Questions

Answer 1: On 10th July 2020 United Kingdom Government’s Department for International Trade (DIT) released the statistics for the number of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects in the Financial Year 2019-20, which revealed that the second-largest source of FDI in the United Kingdom is India.

Answer 2: World Population Day was established in the year 1989 as an initiative taken by the United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP)
Governing Council, and was first observed on July 11th the same year.
The Day is celebrated to create awareness about the rising population issues across the world.

Answer 3: After 3 years of delay, the Solid-Fueled Carrier Rocket of China called Kuaizhou-11, was launched on 10th July 2020 and witnessed a failure during its maiden flight. Kuaizhou-11 became the 19th Rocket launched by China this year. It has now become the 3rd Rocket Launch failure of China in 2020.

Answer 4: The first earth observation satellite ‘Amazonia-1’, which is completely developed by Brazil, is to be launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in August 2020, the agreement for which was signed on 25th January 2004.

Answer 5: Since the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, no Hindu Temple had been constructed Islamabad, capital of Pakistan. Recently,
Islamic activists have blocked the construction of the first Hindu Temple Shree Krishna Mandir in the country’s capital, foundation stone for the temple was laid on June 23, 2020.

Answer 6: The World Health Organization (WHO) on 8th July 2020 announced that Maldives and Sri Lanka have eliminated the Rubella Virus.
Now, Sri Lanka and the Maldives are the first two countries from the South East Asia Region of WHO that have eliminated both the Measles and Rubella Virus.

Answer 7: With the launch of web and mobile-based solution named ‘BLUIS’- Bhubaneswar Land Use Intelligence System, Odisha has become the first Indian state to use AI and space technology

Answer 8: By bringing 3992 Indians from overseas to the country, Indian Navy completed the operation ‘Samudra Setu’ which means the ‘Sea Bridge’. The Operation Samudra Setu was launched on May 5, 2020.

Answer 9: On July 6, 2020, Injeti Srinivas, who is a retired  1983 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Odisha Cadre, has been appointed as the first Chairman of the International Financial Services Centre Authority (IFSCA).
