Ans.1     The Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Fit India Movement’ on the occasion of National Sports Day which is observed on 29 August every year. On the occasion of birth anniversary of hockey doyen, Major Dhyan Chand this day is observed as National Sports Day. The ‘Fit India Movement’ is launched from the Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi with an aim to encourage the people of the country to be more physically active and fit.

Ans.2     Punjab National Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, United Bank of India will be merged as one single entity and they will form the 2nd largest bank of India. Punjab National Bank will be the anchor of this migration. This merging of national banks has been announced by the Finance Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman on August 30, 2019, under Bank Consolidation plan.

Ans.3     CCEA (Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs) chaired by the PM has approved constructions of  75 new medical colleges under ‘AyushmanBharat’.

Ans. 4    Recently Assam has updated NRC. It is the most extensive citizen engaging exercise undertaken in any Indian state. The reason behind this step was the unexpected rise in the population of the state during 1971bto 1991 which indicates the presence of immigrants.   In NRC 2.89 crore people have been accepted as the citizens of India and the citizenship of India is not given to rest approx 40 lakh resident of Assam.

Ans.5     Researchers of the Puducherry-based Indigenous Biodiversity Foundation (IBF)discovered a Peacock Parachute Spider in the Pakkamalai Reserve Forests close to Villupuram district, Tamil NaduThis natural habitat of this spider in Andhra Pradesh and it is the only spider covered with blue hair.

Ans. 6    Government of Indonesia has announced to shift its capital from Jakarta to Kalimantan. Jakarta is facing the world’s worst air pollution and due to lack of urban planning 40% part of the city has reached below the sea level.  

Ans.7     Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of CDRI in New Delhi. CDRI is purposed to be launched on 23 September 2019 in UN.

Ans. 8    Sudan urges the United Nations Security Council to lift its suspension of troop withdrawals and ensure all peacekeepers leave Darfur by June 2020.

Ans.9     PM Narendra Modi inaugurated 200 years old temple of Shreenathji in Manama, Bahrain. Prime Minister also launched the $4.2 million improvement project on Shreenathji Temple.

Ans. 10 The 46th G7 Summit 2020 will be held in the USA.

Ans.11  Private sector’s bank Bandhan bank joins the hand with Standard Chartered Bank to provide co-branded credit cards of the bank to the customers.

Ans.12  The NDA government has decided to merge 10 banks into four. Under this scheme Indian Bank will be merged with Allahabad Bank, OBC and United Bank to be merged in PNB, Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank to be merged in Union Bank of India. Canara Bank and Syndicate Bank will also be merged.

Ans.13  India’s economy grew at its slowest pace in over six years in the June quarter. Data released by the government says that the GDP of India grow with a pace of 5% in the June quarter.  

Ans.14  Reliance Jio earned the maximum profit and topped the telecom market with a 31.7 percent market share in the second quarter (April-June) of 2019. Second place was grabbed by Bharti Airtel.

Ans. 15 President Ram Nath Kovind presented the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award 2018 to Aparna Kumar, Lt. Dipankar Gosh and Manikandan K for land adventure category. Rameshwar Jangra for Air Adventure and Prabhat Raju Koli for Water Adventure received this award.

Ans.16  Romania set the record for the largest win in Twenty20 Internationals after it defeated Turkey in the Romania Cup 2019 with 173 runs.  

Ans.17  Indian sprinter V K Vismaya won gold in 400mt run with the best timing of 52.12 sec.

Ans.18  Ambati Rayudu announced to take back his resignation from all three forms of cricket. He announced his retirement on 3 July 2019 and on 30 August he wrote to Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) that he would like to come out of retirement and play cricket in all formats.
