Ans 1:  The two premier institutions of India, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and IIT Delhi have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in research, education and technology developments in science and other disciplines.

Ans 2: Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, launched ‘Krishi Kisan’ mobile app to help farmers take benefit of field demonstration of new farm technologies, seed hubs and weather advisories.

Ans 3: The IAU – International Astronomical Union has named a minor planet between Mars and Jupiter, which was discovered on November 11, 2006, after Indian classical singer Pandit Jasraj. He is the first Indian musician to receive this honor. The. The number given to Pandit Jasraj planet by IAU is 300128, which is the reverse order of his date of birth 28.01.30.

Ans 4: Bathukamma, the nine-day long flower festival of Telangana, is being celebrated in  Warangal district of the state. The festival is being celebrated from 29th Sept to 6th Oct 2019. Bathukamma marks the beginning of Sharath Ruthu.

Ans 5:  The kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be giving the tourist visas for the first time as part of efforts to diversify its economy away from oil.

Ans 6:  World Tourism Day 2019 was observed globally on 27 September is hosted by a different country every year. India has been selected as the host country for celebration of World Tourism Day 2019 by United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

Ans 7: China has launched its first amphibious assault ship, which would enable ground forces to carry out attacks on enemy territory from sea. This ship is independently developed by China.

Ans 8: The World Rabies Day marked by the Global Alliance World Rabies Control was celebrated on 28th September 2019. The aim of World Rabies Day is to create awareness about impact of rabies on animals and human, increase rabies control efforts, and create awareness about prevention of rabies.

Ans 9: Bangladesh Government has lifted ban on Hisla export to India, the country will now allow 500 tons of Hilsa fish to be exported to India before Durga Pooja eve. Bangladesh accounts approx. 75% of world Hilsa production. The ban on export was imposed due to its over-exploitation.

Ans 10: Hazza Al Mansouri of The United Arab Emirates’s (UAE) became the first Emirati and the first Arab astronaut to travel to International Space Station (ISS).

Ans 11: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed caps on withdrawals made by customers of Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Banks (PMC) for a duration of 6 months.

Ans 12: Punjab National Bank (PNB) has launched a Preventive Vigilance (PV) portal to allow its staff members to check procedural lapses. The bank has launched the portal to promote good practices.

Ans 13: Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has been selected for the highest Indian film honour- Dadasaheb Phalke award for the year 2019. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, made the announcement through a tweet.

Ans 14: Infosys has won the United Nations Global Climate Action Award (UNGCAA) in the ‘Climate Neutral Now’ category for “Infosys’ Journey to Carbon Neutrality”.

Ans 15: Thanu Padmanabhan, a 62 year old Physicist and Cosmologist, was honored with the prestigious M P Birla Memorial Award 2019 for his contributions to the world of cosmology.

Ans 16: Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, has been conferred with prestigious ‘Vaccine Hero’ award of Global Alliance for Vaccination and Immunisations (GAVI) for Bangladesh’s outstanding success in vaccination to immunise children.

Ans 17: Air Marshal Harjit Singh Arora has been appointed as the new Vice Chief of Indian Air Force (IAF). He will be succeeding Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria.

Ans 18: Suresh Chitturi, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of poultry firm Srinivasa Farms, has been appointed as chairman of the International Egg Commission (IEC).

Ans 19: Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat takes charge as Chairman of Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC). He will be succeeding Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal (ACM) BS Dhanoa, who will retire on 30 September 2019.

Ans 20: The Bulgarian Economist Christina Georgieva has been appointed as the new head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
