What is TET?

TET teacher eligibility test is conducted by the state and central government. The TET exam conducted by central is CTET, and when it’s conducted by the states, the exam has the state name. For example, the TET exam conducted by the Utter Pradesh government is denoted with UPTET. The main aim of introducing the TET is to bring a national standard in the quality of teachers. The test has two papers; Paper 1 and Paper 2. Aspirants that want to be a teacher for the primary class take paper 1, and for higher classes, paper 2 is conducted. TET is an eligibility test on clearing it the aspirants can apply for the teachers’ vacancies available with state, central government and private schools. Earlier, the marks scored in TET were valid for 7 years only. It means the applicant will have to take the Teachers Eligibility Test after 7 years, but now the examinee will be TET qualified for a lifetime. The central government authority has announced that the CTET certificate will be valid for a lifetime. TET Eligibility Criteria 2021

As the TET exam has two papers, so the eligibility for both of the papers is different. Here is the eligibility criteria for TET 2021;

The eligibility criteria for TET Paper 1

Any one of the following eligibility criteria will be required to apply for TET Paper 1;

  • Applicant must have passed 12th with a minimum of 50% and an elementary diploma of 2 years.
  • A 12th pass out with 50% marks and cleared or appearing in 4 years bachelor elementary education.
  • Applicant must be 12th pass out with 45% marks and appearing in the final year of elementary education’s 2 year diploma course.
  • Candidates that have passed or appeared in 2 years diploma course in special education and pursuing graduation.
  • A graduate applicant, pursuing in the final year of diploma in elementary education.

Eligibility Criteria for Paper 2

Here is the eligibility (anyone) to apply for TET paper 2;

  • 12th pass-outs with atleast 50% marks and passed or appeared in the final year of 4 years graduation program(BA/B.Sc.Ed or BA.Ed/B.Sc.Ed). 
  • Applicant must have completed graduation or appearing for the final year of the 2-year diploma in elementary education. 
  • Applicant must have cleared graduation with a minimum of 50% marks and appearing in bachelor in education. 
  • Must have completed graduation with 50% marks and appeared in 1 year special education course in B. Ed. 

TET Application Form 2021

Application form for CTET or state TET released online. Candidates have to fill the application form released by authorities on their respective websites. In 2021 the UPTET has been postponed, but HPTET 2021 is expected to be arranged in July month. It’s easy to fill the online TET application form and pay the fee. Applicants will have to upload the following documents to complete the TET application form;

  • ID proof
  • Recent photograph
  • Qualifications Documents
  • Caste Certificate
  • Age Certificate
  • Experience Certificate (if Any)

TET 2021 Exam Pattern

Both paper 1 and paper 2 will be having MCQs. The number of questions will be 150, and each question will be for 1 mark. The duration for each paper will be 2 hours and thirty minutes. The exam does not have any negative marking. On the wrong answer, the applicants will get zero marks. To clear the exam, candidates from the general category will have to score minimum 60% marks, and for candidates from the reserved category, the minimum required marks are 55% to clear CTET.
