Answer 1: The Union cabinet recently approved the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Nidhi (PMSSN) as a single non-lapsable reserve fund for share of health from the proceeds of health and education cess levied under the Finance Act, 2007.
Answer 2: World Hearing Day is observed on 3 March. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about the measures to be taken to prevent hearing loss. This year the day was celebrated under the theme ‘Hearing care for ALL!
Answer 3: The governor of the state of Haryana, Satyadev Narayan Arya, has approved the bill that reserves 75% jobs in the private sector for locals with a gross salary of up to Rs. 50,000 per month.
Answer 4: International Waste Pickers’ Day is observed on 1 March to mark the Colombian massacre which led to the brutal death of 11 workers. This day is observed to give voice and recognition to waste pickers/recyclers worldwide.
Answer 5: The largest ground-based optical telescope of the country, has been installed in Devasthal, Uttarakhand.
