NASA has launched its new Laser Communications Relay Demonstration (LCRD) on December 7, 2021. It is the first-ever laser communications system from agency’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The LCRD will help the NASA to test optical communication in space. At present, most NASA spacecraft use radio frequency communications to send data. LCRD has two optical terminals – one to receive data from a user spacecraft, and the other to transmit data to ground stations.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has released its World Malaria Report 2021 which discussed the global efforts to tackle malaria suffered due to COVID-19 in the year 2020.
As per the report, there were approx. 627,000 malaria deaths in the year 2020, which is a 12% increase over 2019. The report also warns that if no expeditious action will be taken, the world will see an immediate resurgence of the disease, especially in Africa.

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved implementation of Atma Nirbhar Krishak Integrated Development Scheme in the state of UP from 2021-22. Under the scheme, in the next 3 years, 1475 farmer producer organizations will be formed in each block of the state. The scheme will also help to achieve the target of utilizing the center-approved budget of 1000 crores under Agriculture infrastructure fund.
