Answer 1: Bhupendra Yadav, Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate change, this year on the International Tiger Day, announced that India’s 14 Tiger reserves have received accreditation of the Global Conservation Assured Tiger Standards (CA|TS).

What is CA|TS? – It is a globally accepted set of criteria or conservation tool that sets minimum standards for managing target species, and enforces assessments to benchmark progress.

The 14 CA|TS accredited tiger reserves of India – Mudumalai & Anamalai in Tamil Nadu; Manas, Orang and Kaziranga in Assam; Pench in Maharashtra; Kanha, Satpura and Panna in Madhya Pradesh; Dudhwa in Uttar Pradesh; Valmiki tiger reserve in Bihar; Parambikulam in Kerala; Sunderbans in West Bengal; and Bandipur in Karntaka.

The resolution on global drowing prevention was adopted by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on 28 April 2021. The day is being observed control the deaths due to drowning by spreading awareness. It is estimated that approx. 236,000 people drown every year, and drowning is one of the ten leading causes of death for children in age group 5-14 years.

  • NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in partnership with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory is leading the development of the Europa Clipper mission.
