Quiz Answers

Answer 1: On 18th July 2020, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued emergency use authorization, allowing COVID-19 pool sampling from up to four individuals.

Answer 2: The United Nations released the Multidimensional Poverty Index, 2020. As per the Index, India has recorded the largest reduction in number of people living below poverty line for the years 2015-19.

Answer 3: The United Nations Security Council has recently added militant Baitullah Mehsud of Pakistan to Al-Qaida and ISIL sanctions list. He has been declared as global terrorist. The sanctions have brought in travel ban, asset freeze and arms embargo to the militant.

Answer 4: Every year Nelson Mandela International Day is observed on July 18. The day is observed as a global call to action which celebrates the idea, “Every individual has the power to transform the world”. This day was officially declared by the United Nations in the year 2009 and in 2010 the first UN Mandela day was celebrated.

Answer 5: PM SVANidhi app was launched on 17th July 2020 by the Minister of Urban Affairs. The aim of the application is to provide user-friendly digital interface to lending institutions and their functionaries for sourcing and processing the loan applications of street vendors.

Answer 6: On 15th July 2020, India and Israel signed agreements for expanding their collaboration in dealing with cyber threats. The agreement was signed between India’s Ambassador to Israel Sanjeev Singla and Director General of Israel’s National Cyber Directorate (INCD).

Answer 7: On 15th July 2020, the Federation Internationale de Football Association made an announcement that 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar.

Answer 8: On 16th July 2020 the former IAS officer and Maharashtra’s first woman election commissioner Smt Neela Satyanarayan passed away. She was diagnosed with COVID-19.

Answer 9: On 16th July 2020, Tunisian Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh resigned. The resignation was presented to the President of Tunisia Kais Saied.

Answer 10: On 15th July 2020, the Union Minister of Human Resource and Development Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishnak launched IIT Delhi-developed COVID-19 kit ‘COROSURE’, which is the world’s most affordable kit.
