100 Million for 100 Million

‘100 Million for 100 Million’ Campaign has been launched by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan, on December 11, 2016, marking his 81st birthday. The campaign-theorised by Nobel peace prize winner Kailash Satyarthi was organized by the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation.

The Campaign Aims to:

  • Mobilise 100 million children and youth in India for 100 million underprivileged children across the globe.
  • End child labour, child slavery, child exploitation, and violence against children over the next 5 years.
  • Inspire 100 million children to speak and act for the ill-fated children living in dreadful conditions and motivate them to build a child-friendly world.
  • Promote the right of every child to be free, safe, and educated.
  • Educate millions about their rights and the rights of numerous other children, similar to them.

The ‘100 Million for 100 Million’ Campaign begins from India, which has the largest population of youth and a large number of underprivileged children in the world. The campaign has also brought curtains to the two-day ‘Laureates and Leaders for Children Summit’ attended by around 25 Nobel laureates and leaders who think of improving the future of over a 100 million children who are out of school and are denied a childhood.

Several leaders participated in the two-day summit, including Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein of Jordan, Princess Charlene of Monaco, President of Timor-Leste Jose Ramos-Horta, Princess Laurentien of The Netherlands. 2014 Nobel Peace Prize recipient and Pakistani girls’ rights activist Malala Yousafzai is also a part of the campaign.

The Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation’s efforts had brought together Nobel laureates from all disciplines, world leaders, representatives of United Nations (UN), eminent persons from the field of business, sports and cinema etc. to use their “moral authority” for rights of children and fight against child trafficking and slavery.

Briefing Up 

The campaign has been lunched to use energy, eagerness, enthusiasm, and the idealism of youth for the cause of the neglected, abused and exploited children. The Campaign is a much needed step towards children’s rights and fight against child trafficking and slavery.
