Indian history has a huge portion captured and ruled by the Mughals for the longest period of time. There have been some breathtaking wars, some rulers became the din-i-ilahi whereas some ripped off the soul from their progeny in order to fill in their kingdom treasures.
Game of Throne in Khilji Dynasty
After the Slaves dynasty, the dynasty had become more fragile and weak. Then came the Khilji dynasty, also known as Khalji dynasty, to mark the beginning of something none would have thought of. After a few years of the crowning of Jalaluddin Khalji, his nephew conspired against him and killed him in order to gain the throne. He was Allauddin Khilji.
The Khalji Dynasty does not have a long history though. The reign of three rulers and the dynasty came to an end. As it is said that the nothing lasts if there is internal chaos. So was the story behind the short period of this dynasty as the rulers of India.
Nobles backstabbed the kings or rulers, there were several brutal wars fought during the ruling of Khiljis. Getting to know about the Khilji Dynasty, no humanity existed, conflicts with the kings, and hatred perished.
The Revolts of the Khilji Dynasty
The Khilji dynasty is the one full of revolts, wars, and internal conflicts. Starting off with the capturing he captured Gujarat, Ranthambore killed Rajput Hamir Deva, then he killed Rana Ratan Singh of Chittor and captured Chittorgarh. Alauddin Khalji had captured a huge part of India under his dynasty but was unable to capture Bengal. However, Alauddin Khilji had acquired almost whole of India by the end of 1311 AD.
Khilji Dynasty Rulers
Jalaluddin Firuz Khilji:
The first ruler of the Khilji Dynasty, ruled India for a mere 6 years only. He invaded India and established Delhi as the capital, but did not stay there. He built another capital called the Kokiri. He was the one who saved India from the attacks of the Mongols. Jalaluddin Khilji did not let the Mongols capture his dynasty. His smart negotiations and the great defense made the Mongols take the departure. However, when the second time he attacked India, until this time, Alauddin Khilji had taken over the throne by conspiring against his Uncle.
His real name was Juna Khan. One out of the three rulers of the Khilji Dynasty to rule for the most years. His rule began in 1296 until 1316, ruled for 20 years. In the short period of time, Alauddin Khilji had captured almost whole of India under his dynasty. He was the nephew and son-in-law of Jalaluddin Khilji. He died in 1316 due to health illness.
Qutub-ud-din Mubarak Shah:
One of the weakest ruler of the Khilji Dynasty. He released every prisoner from the jail and abolished each and every tax. Sooner the treasury was empty and he was killed by Khusru Khan bringing an abrupt end to the Khilji Dynasty.
The Bottom Line
Khilji Dynasty was undoubtedly strong ruling reign yet did not flourish for a long period of time because of several issues, one of them being lack of efficient rulers and too many conflicts.
