Online Vigilance Clearance System and electronic Service Book Launched

An Online vigilance System and electronic Service Book have been launched by the Indian Union Minister Jitendra Singh in New Delhi, India. The online vigilance system has been launched to speed up the process of vigilance clearance cases for senior-level appointments in India’s central government.

Online Vigilance Clearance System: Key Facts

  1. Initially, the availability of the vigilance clearance system will be for board level appointments for the Central Public Sector Enterprises made by the Public Enterprises Selection Board.
  2. Later, the system will be expanded for senior appointments in the government departments and in banks.
  3. The system aims to reduce time taken in the process of vigilance clearance from existing three months to one-two days.
  4. Also, all Central Government Ministries will be regularly updating database of their vigilance officers on the vigilance system, which will provide information about the officers clearly.

Electronic Service Book: Key Facts

  1. The e-Service Book has been launched for electronically maintaining service records, which are maintained manually at present. The e-service book will include information related to work history of employees at different departments, information on house building allowance, employee leaves and other related information.
  2. The book will also help maintain the records related to service of employees online, which will result in fast processing of salary cases (in cases inter-state or of inter-departmental transfers) or processing of pension in case of retirement.
  3. The service has been launched on pilot-project mode for the Union government employees that work for Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions. Soon the government will extended the service to other government departments as well.

Views

On the launch of the service, K. V. Chowdary, Central Vigilance Commissioner, said that it is a big step taken by the government towards the renovation of processes followed by ministry at present.
