While competing for government exams, candidates make their own exam strategy and habits. Not all strategies can give miraculous results, but some may. Some of the habits adopted by candidates lead to mistakes, especially in exams like IBPS and SBI PO.

Below are some common mistakes that candidates must avoid in order to score well in IBPS 2016 exam.

1. Preparing according to old pattern and using old books
Exam pattern for IBPS has been changed from what it was years back. So, you need to use study material and books that discuss latest pattern of the IBPS exam.

Make sure to collect the newest study material and books, to stay competitive.

2. Referring too many resources
Candidates refer too many resources to enhance their performance, but at times this may lead to confusion. Every resource explains the concepts in its own way and there are multiple ways to solve a single problem. So, choose some books that cover full IBPS Exam syllabus and practice from them to master the techniques. Referring too many resources like websites and books will confuse you.

3. Less Practice
If you think just looking at the logic can help you solve questions in exam. You are wrong, to answer correct you need to practice a lot. Make sure to solve previous exam papers, sample papers and appear for mock tests to gain speed and accuracy.

Mock test is an important part of exam preparation, because it helps you evaluate your preparation. It will help you know your weaker ends, so you can improve them.

4. Ignoring Previous Year Cut-Off marks
Know the cut-off marks of IBPS previous year exams, to improve your performance. If you know the cut-off you can prepare to score better than that score. This will also make you aware about the competition level and where you need to improve your preparation to score above cut-off.

5. Mismanagement of time
Scoring well in IBPS exam depends totally on how well you manage your time. Mostly the candidates devote maximum time to solve Reasoning and Aptitude sections, so have no time left to attempt English and General Awareness.

If you have a time strategy for all sections you can score better. Set the number of questions you will be solving from each section and set a time limit for them. Along with time, you must work on your speed and accuracy.

6. Not Updates about General Awareness
Candidates give their maximum time preparing reasoning and aptitude sections. They take General Awareness very lightly. But General Awareness is a section which requires daily newspaper reading and general awareness magazines. This section cannot be prepared overnight.

This sections can help score well, all you need is to give time to this section.

7. Making guesses to answer questions
Candidates take risk by making guesses while answering questions, which leads to negative marking. And thus reduces their chances of getting selected.

Do not attempt any question, if you are not 100 percent sure about the answer. Making a guess can be positive at times, but there are more chances of losing marks.

8. No knowledge of Shortcut Tricks
You must know some short tricks to save time in exam. Knowing short tricks that give you accurate answers will help score well in the IBPS exam. You cannot take risk of losing your chance to get posted with IBPS banks. So, instead of using lengthy methods to solve problems, use shortcuts.

Make sure you have practiced enough and you know that the shortcut gives you correct answer in what type of questions.

Bottom Line:
The IBPS PO 2016 exam is near, do not panic. Keep your mind calm and revise the sections you are weak at. Appear for mock tests because this is the best time to appear for mock tests. Doing this will give you feel of real exam and will boost up your confidence.
