The Radiological Physics and Advisory Division (RP&AD) of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is inviting applications for Diploma in Radiological Physics (Dip. R.P. course), which is a one-year post-M.Sc programme. The 58th Dip R.P. course is scheduled to commence from the first week of August 2019. The total number of seats allocated for the admission to the Dip.R.P course are 30, which includes 25 non-sponsored candidates and 5 sponsored candidates from the government institution.
Important Dates
- The last date for the receipt of application is May 25, 2019.
- The Written Test (CET) for non-sponsored candidates will be conducted on 23.06.2019 at 11.00 AM at New Training School Complex, Anushaktinagar, Mumbai – 400094
- Admit cards will be available from 05.06.2019.
- The result of the CET will be declared at the exam venue at 17:00 hours.
Eligibility
- The candidates should have completed M.Sc (Physics) with a minimum of 60% marks as a full-time programme.
- The candidates should also have a B.Sc Degree with minimum 60% marks.
- Sponsored candidates need to have one year of work experience in a Radiotherapy Department of Government Institution in India. They are also required to produce documentary evidence of availing personal monitoring service from BARC or any laboratories accredited to it.
- Candidates waiting for the result of the final year of M.Sc (Physics) Degree are eligible to apply. They have to attach copies of mark sheets of B.Sc degree and a copy of mark sheet of the first year of M.Sc. The candidates have to submit their M.Sc degree and mark sheet by 30.10.2019.
Age Limit (as on 01.08.2019)
- The maximum age of general category candidates should not exceed 26 years.
- The upper age limit for SC/ST and OBC candidates is 31 years and 29 years respectively.
- Physically challenged candidates will get age relaxation by up to 10 years.
- The maximum age for Dependents of those died in 1984 riots is 31 years.
- The upper age limit for persons domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kashmir Division from January 1, 1980 to December 31, 1989 is 31 years.
- The upper age limit is 40 years for the sponsored candidates.
Application Fee
- The candidates have to pay an application fee of Rs. 500 through online payment.
- Women and physically challenged applicants, dependent of Defense personnel killed in Action (DODPKIA), and SC/ST applicants are exempted from payment of the fee.
Selection Process
- Non-sponsored candidates will be selected based on their performance in written test (CET) and interview.
- CET will screen the candidates for interview. The final selection of candidate will depend on their performance in interview.
- The candidates will be admitted to the course only after they are declared medically fit by the BARC hospital, Mumbai.
Common Entrance Test (CET)
- The CET will include multiple-choice questions (MCQs) with negative marking of every wrong answer.
- The duration of the test will be 2 hours.
Interview
- The candidates who qualified CET will be interviewed from 24.06.2019 to 26.06.2019 at New Training School Complex, Anushatinagar, Mumbai, 400094.
- The sponsored candidates have to directly appear for interview.
Stipend
- The sponsored candidates are not eligible for a stipend.
- Non-sponsored candidates will receive a stipend of Rs. 25,000/- per month for one year.
Admission Fee
- At the time of admission, the candidates have to pay an admission fee of Rs. 6000 in the form of Demand Draft (DD) in favour of Accounts Officer, HBNI, payable at Mumbai.
Bond
- It is mandatory for non-sponsored candidates to execute a bond at the time of admission. If the candidates decide to discontinue the course before one-year, he/she has to refund the stipend received along with interest.
Course Content
The BARC Diploma in Radiological Physics course will include:
- Radiation physics that includes numerical and statistical methods.
- Radiation dosimetry and standardization
- Radiation detection and measurement
- Radiation biology
- Applications of ionizing radiation and radioisotopes in medicine industry, research and agriculture
- Radiation hazard evaluation and control
- Physics of radiotherapy and medical imaging
- Radiation emergencies and its management
- Transport of radioactive materials
The course will also include field training and practicals relevant to the practice followed by the medical physicists and radiological safety officers.
The duration for the field training will be 8 weeks, which will include four weeks at BARC and four weeks each at Radiation Medicine Centre (RMC), Mumbai and Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), Mumbai.
Note: The medium of instruction throughout the training will be in the English language.
