In August 2021 Supreme Court of India allowed female candidates to participate in the NDA exam conducted by UPSC. It was a historical decision by Supreme Court that promoted equal rights to girls in the country. The effect of this decision is seen when in Punjab, the number of female candidates is five times higher than the male candidates. A career in NDA for females gives girls new options to have their career and gives them an equal chance to grow. Before 2021, NDA careers were only for male candidates, but now female aspirants are showing more interest in this career option.
UPSC has released the notification for NDA I exam 2022. The application process to participate in the exam is the same. In addition, the notification has detailed information on the eligibility criteria for female candidates in NDA. Considering the ratio of female and male candidates in NDA II 2021, it seems that female candidates are more interested in having their career in NDA. NDA for Female vs Male Candidates
NDA or National Defense Academy is a training institute for Indian armed forces. UPSC conducts this examination twice a year for interested candidates to get admission to the institute. The age and educational eligibility criteria to apply for the NDA exam are the same for male and female applicants. Here have a look at the eligibility criteria for NDA aspirants;
- The applicant must be a citizen of India or Nepal or of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma or some of the other countries.
- Both male and female applicants should be unmarried, and their date of birth should be between 02nd July 2003 to 1st July 2006.
- NDA is the students’ gateway to enter into the Indian Army, Navy and Air force. If you want to be a part of the Indian Army, you must have a qualified 12th exam conducted by the state or central education board.
If you want to enter the Air force or Navy, you must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Maths in 12th standard.
