Co-WIN Portal – How to Register for COVID-19 Vaccination?

After vaccinating the frontline workers, on March 1, 2021, India has opened registration and started the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination to cover senior citizens (above 60 years) and those aged above 45 years with specific comorbid conditions.

Health Ministry has started that- “Registration and booking for appointment for COVID vaccination can be done through CoWIN portal cowin.gov.in. There is no CoWIN App for beneficiary registration. The app on Play Store is for administrators only.”

A user guide to help citizens register and book their appointment has been uploaded on the websites of the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the National Health Authority (NHA).

As per the press release from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the eligible persons can register at the Co-WIN2.0 portal using their phone number, through a step-by-step process. A person can register 4 beneficiaries with one mobile number. However, all those registered persons will have only mobile number in common, the Photo ID Card Number must be different. Citizens can use any of the Photo Identity Documents for availing of online registration:

  • Aadhar Card/Letter
  • Passport
  • Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC)
  • PAN Card
  • Driving License
  • NPR Smart Card
  • Pension Document with photograph

What is Co-WIN Portal?

Co-WIN, https://www.cowin.gov.in/, is a platform for Indian citizens to register themselves for COVID-19 vaccination and schedule their vaccination slots at a nearest vaccination centers.

On the portal, using the Find Your Nearest Vaccination Center, you can type in the name of your area to see the nearest vaccination center.

How to Register For COVID Vaccination?

Register Yourself

Click on register Yourself, citizens can register using their Mobile number. Enter you mobile number and click on Get OPT.

You will receive the OPT on the number, enter the OPT here and click on Verify.

Fill all the information about yourself to register yourself for vaccination. The identity proof has to be carried when going for vaccination. Once you complete all the information click on REGISTER.

Once Register you can add individuals to the mobile number you registered. Enter complete detail of the individual to add them. You can also delete the individuals linked to your mobile number.

You can book vaccination slot at a center nearby to the individual by clicking on book an appointment icon.

You can download the list of all private hospitals that have received COVID vaccines, from the website of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and National Health Authority.
