CAT 2018 Result Released

The CAT or Common Admission Test is the most sought-after examination for entrance in MBA, every year, over 2 lacks candidates appear for this examination. This exam is conducted by IIMs on a yearly basis to get admission in one of the 20 IIMs all over India. these 20 IIMs offer roughly 4,000 seats for various courses like PG management programmes.

How to Check CAT 2018 Result

The results of CAT 2018 has been declared in the form of a scorecard by IIM Calcutta on Saturday 5 January 2019 on their official website. Candidates who have appeared for the examination can check and download their result by simply logging in to the official website. Due to some technical error, some students were able to see their result before the actual release i.e. on 1st January 2019. The official answer key for the examination was made available on 7 December 2019 for both slot 1 and slot 2. Candidates can log in to the official website with the help of CAT user id and password to download the answer key.

Reactions of Exam Takers and Examiners

Mixed reactions were given by the test takers and examiners about the exam. The candidates said that the exam had a moderate difficulty. According to some candidates, the questions in the verbals section were quite difficult while according to others that were the easiest section. There is a similar case with the quant section, according to some candidates it was the easiest scoring section while others refeed it as the most difficult portion of the examination.

The second slot of the exam was of 3 hours in between 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The 180 minutes examination covered 3 sections which are DILR, VACR and QA, these three sections carried a net sum of 300 marks. Some highlights of CAT 2019 are given below

There is also a rule for negative marking in the CAT exam, for every correct answer a candidate will be awarded 3 marks and for every incorrect answer 1 mark will be deduced in case of MCQ and there is no negative marking in case of non-MCQs. The exam was conducted online following a computer-based examination pattern.

CAT 2018 cut-off

The minimum score that you must secure to get shortlisted by one of the 20 IIMs is called as the cut off for CAT, there is a variation in the value of cut-off for different institutes. The top institutes have a higher cut-off as compared to the other institutes. The cut-off of CAT 2018 depends majorly on factors like exam difficulty, number of seats etc.. some of the IIMs have already released their cut-offs for the CAT exam according to the different categories, others are expected to release the list for the same very soon.
