A Probationary Officer (PO) is a Scale I Assistant Manager in a bank. After successfully clearing the exam, the candidates undergo a training and the probation period for them last for 2 years in general. However, probation period may differ from bank to bank.
All About Bank PO Exam and Selection Process
Bank recruitment are generally done in three steps. The first two phase include online exams; preliminary and mains respectively. Candidates who successfully pass the first two phase are eligible for the third stage; personal interview.
Candidates selected after the prelims and mains exam get eligible for the personal interview round. A merit list is prepared based on the performance of candidates in all the three rounds and then they are finally selected for the PO position.
Recruitment Process of BOB
All bank exams are same in nature, but their recruitment process may differ from each other. The recruitment process of Bank of Baroda (BOB) is little different from IBPS and SBI, here a candidate has to clear an Online Objective Test, Descriptive Test, followed by Psychometric Assessment, Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).
The first stage includes an online exam, which includes Objective test to judge the reasoning, quantitative, general awareness (related to banking industry), English Language abilities of the candidate. Followed by a descriptive test of English Language which accounts for 50 marks.
The collective marks of candidates qualifying in the online exam (objective + descriptive) are arranged in a descending order in each category and the candidates in the order of merit, subject to category, will be eligible for Psychometric Assessment, GD and PI.
The qualifying marks for Psychometric Assessment, GD and PI will be as decided by the Bank. Selected candidates have to undertake a 9 months’ course, Post Graduate Certificate in Banking and Finance (PGCBF), at the Baroda Manipal School of Banking.
